Since 1968 The Fold has counseled families in crisis. Often, a family has a teen in crisis amid a financial struggle as well. That is why we have developed a financial model through fundraising efforts from churches, private donors, and foundation grants, which enables us to waive tuition ($2,060/month) for families earning less than $80,000 per year. We ask such parents to pay only room and board expenses of $38 per day, less than it costs some families to have their teen at home (according to some national studies). Families with incomes exceeding $80,000 pay tuition on a sliding scale (please check with our admissions coordinator for details at 802-626-5620). We realize that it may be a financial burden for some families even at $38/day, so we offer payment plans to financially stressed parents. Our policy since 1968 has been never to deny admission solely for financial reasons, but we expect parents to keep their financial obligations once their teen has been admitted.
Only young people who want help and choose to submit to the program will be admitted to The Fold. This includes a willingness of the person to submit to the house rules, discipline, and authority of the staff. Young people are asked to make a one year commitment to their program, though length of stay may vary.
To enter The Fold, young people are not required to profess Christian beliefs; however, they are made fully aware during preliminary interviews that Christian values are taught, practiced, and applied. While residents cannot be compelled to accept Jesus Christ as Savior, the staff are committed to being living witnesses and role models of the life of Christ in word and deed. As a result, through regular study and devotions, involvement in church attendance and activities, and applying our Biblical approach to dealing with problems in the home, most young people who reside at The Fold come to an individual decision to personally commit to Christ.
