STAFF POSITIONS & OPPORTUNITIES

A distinguishing quality of The Fold's one-of-a-kind ministry is that young people are not admitted against their will. Each teen must personally choose to want our help and make a commitment to enter the program. This enhances good stewardship of our ministry resources for optimal results.

All staff receive training through The Fold's ongoing staff training program. At regular staff training sessions, each person learns biblical principles of childcare, The Fold’s successful approach to problem solving, encouragement as well as Christian fellowship. Much emphasis and time is given to prayer, which is viewed as central and vital to all that is done at The Fold.

Home Director/Houseparents

Home Directors or Houseparents provide leadership, role modeling, and teaching among other duties to assure a safe and loving atmosphere for presenting Christ and His sufficiency to emotionally troubled young people living at The Fold. Supervision of staff may include four to five live-in resident instructors and a home manager/cook. Along with administrative duties, this role also involves interviewing perspective staff and young people seeking admission to the program, communicating regularly with parents, working closely with other ministry leaders, and planning and participating in special events.

Associate Home Director

Working with youth and staff as an understudy to the Home Director. Involves "hands on" opportunities in discipling of teens, teaching staff, assisting the Home Director (or Houseparents) with administrative duties and day-to-day activities of the program. Along with fellowship and encouragement from other staff during The Fold's regularly held training sessions, the Associate Director learns biblical principles of child-care and The Fold’s successful approach to problem solving.

Home Manager

Sharing the love of Christ is first and foremost as both an individual and team ministry at The Fold. Each home is run family style. Working closely with the Home Director (Houseparents), the Home Manager is responsible for maintaining a warm, nurturing, homelike atmosphere for the residents. Duties include meal planning and coordinating, purchasing, scheduling and supervising regular home care, and teaching residents. Discipling the teens and teaching other staff may also be part of one's ministry as Home Manager.

Resident Instructors (RI's)

Work closely with emotionally troubled young people (ages 13-17) in The Fold's residential counseling program. Reach young people with the life-changing message of grace and hope through Jesus Christ by serving as part of an effective ministry team. Resident Instructors assist each young person (primarily working with about three teens) as they follow an individualized plan designed to optimize problem solving, personal growth, and emotional healing. The daily routine and responsibilities of home and rural life, as well as various activities, provides the setting for our ministry. Sharing the love of Christ with the young people is always a privilege and an adventure in faith.

Teacher

The Fold Family Ministries provides an educational program for each child at our private Christian school. Teachers seek to meet the educational needs of young people while working as part of the ministry "team" effort to share God’s love, grace, and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. Teachers serve year round (although school programs are abbreviated during the summer months). There is a high teacher-student ratio and, as with other staff, teachers are taught The Fold’s successful approach to problem solving during regularly scheduled staff training sessions.

Internship

Similar role as discipler . This is a short-term position designed to provide experience and exposure to The Fold's one-of-a-kind residential care ministry. Interns make a two-month to one-year commitment. Internships include summer missions opportunities. Many students who are seeking to fulfill their field service requirements for their academic major and gain valuable experience seek this position. In addition to resident instructor internships, there are opportunities for teaching internships at The Fold's Christian school.
