President
Sally and I began our ministry at The Fold in 1973. We have four adult children and twelve delightful grandchildren. Sally serves with me in The Fold office and in many of the ministry events throughout the year. Some of my hobbies include photography, history, working on “home improvement” projects, playing and listening to music, which includes serving as a member of our local church’s worship band (vibes and marimba). Sally and I love to hike and travel together as well as attend family and sports activities.

Educationally, I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lyndon (Vermont) State College, a Master of Arts degree in counseling from Vermont College of Norwich University. I am also a graduate of a three-year intensive program on pastoral studies and Greek. My Doctor of Philosophy degree in counseling is from Oxford Graduate School, Crystal Springs (Dayton), TN, where I am also a Fellow in the Oxford Society of Scholars. It is a continuing ambition of mine to write professionally and advance within this Society. Professionally, I am a licensed counselor by the State of Vermont and hold a number of certifications. I also serve our local community as an elder in the growing and vibrant church we attend.

In addition to leadership and administrative responsibilities at The Fold, I enjoy presenting our ministry to churches and other groups throughout the country. I have lectured in colleges, put on seminars for various organizations, and spoken on local as well as nationally syndicated radio programs. But among my most personally rewarding ministry experiences is teaching and counseling parents at our seminars on site at The Fold as well as teaching ©GraceLife Conferences and other seminars dealing with relationships, parenting, and marriage and family life issues.

Directors of Development

Tim and Barb were first introduced to The Fold when they were seeking out help for an at-risk teen daughter. Though their daughter never entered the program, they felt called to come serve within the ministry, first as the Boys Home Directors and currently as the Directors of Development.

Before beginning their ministry at The Fold, they owned their own business for 10 years. Barb has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Elizabeth Town College and has taken Bible courses from Lancaster Bible College. Tim received a bachelor’s degree in Bible and Social Work from Philadelphia Biblical University and holds an MSW from Marywood University.

Throughout their lives, Tim and Barb have adopted and raised 9 children and are also foster parents in the state of Vermont. They decided to work in residential counseling because of their own experiences as parents of at-risk teens. They believe the Lord challenged them to come alongside other parents who were having similar struggles. They are sent missionaries from the Board of Missions of the Community Bible Fellowship Church in Red Hills, PA.

COUNSELING STAFF

Counselor

Dennis has been working at The Fold since 1998. He ministers in the role of a youth and family counselor. Prior to moving to Vermont, Dennis and his family lived in Alaska where he served as a youth pastor, and was instrumental in beginning a ministry to at-risk teens through discipleship and Bible study, for a local youth correctional facility.

He has a bachelor’s degree from Columbia International University and an MA in Christian Counseling from Luther Rice University. He chose these educational paths out of a desire to serve God in missions; he felt they would better equip him to meet the needs of people in a vocational ministry setting.
Dennis has a heartfelt concern for teens who are struggling to make life work. This is especially true of ones who do not have a positive father figure to learn from. He shares, “I have been blessed with a healthy father role-model and it motivates me to pass the blessing along to others.”

In addition to the work at The Fold, Dennis is actively involved in a local fellowship, teaching Sunday school class and meeting practical needs within the church. He and his family enjoy hiking, wintertime activities, and reading. His personal goals in life include helping his children reach their full potential and providing a healthy, God-honoring home environment.

Counselor

Joy is originally from the metro-Denver area of Colorado. She came to a personal realization of God's love for her when she was fifteen years old. Shortly after, she began to feel strongly that God would one day call her to work with hurting adolescents. Early in college, she became aware of residential facilities for hurting and broken youth. As a result, She determined to study counseling in order to one day be equipped to work in such a facility.

Joy graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Bible and Biblical Counseling from Lancaster Bible College 2004 and spent a couple of additional years in Lancaster, Pennsylvania developing relationships and trying her hand at a variety of positions including a counseling internship, attendant care for a disabled woman, and therapeutic support for children with behavioral disorders.
In the spring of 2006 Joy was looking into ministry opportunities when she became aware of The Fold's staffing needs. She interviewed at the Cornerstone Girls Home and joined the staff as a full-time Resident Instructor later that summer. She served in the discipleship role for almost two years until she was given the opportunity to transition into the full-time counseling role in the summer of 2008. She appreciates The Fold's commitment to families and is excited about her deeper involvement with both teens and parents.

Some of Joy's life goals include: visiting every continent, publishing a book, acquiring a Master’s degree and living in Italy for at least a summer.
